September favorites

By: Z.

Hey there,

let me start with stating the obvious: it's October. September went away fast and it makes me only think about how quickly the summer ended. It's like it never even happened. With the first autumn days came also the first days of missing the holidays and wanting it to come back. But hey, I kind of like autumn so I'm gonna at least try and stay positive if nothing else.
Thinking back, there were a few things that I've been enjoying this past month.

Movie/TV series: OUTLANDER

If you never heard of Outlander you should look it up now :-) It combines the perfect amount of fantasy, romance and history and with the great cast there is nothing I could have enjoyed more during cozy autumn evenings. The first half of the season one already ended but it is based on the book series so there should be a lot more coming up (the second half starts in April- the waiting will kill me for sure :-/ ). It focuses on the story of Claire who enjoys honeymoon with her husband Frank in Scotland but travels back in time to the 18th century. If you're anything like me and enjoy a good love story filled with adventures, strong woman characters and Scottish accent then you should definitely check it out :-)

Book: THE FAULT IN OUR STARS

I kind of feel like cheating because it is the only book I read in September so there isn't really anything else I could put in this category but, hey,  I really did enjoy reading this. I watched the movie first (I know, what have I done?!) and I must say I probably liked it more than the book (whaaaat?). I think that the story was incredible but it wasn't written very well if you know what I mean. It all happened so quickly in the book that there was no time to make some kind of connection with the characters. But as I said, the story... oh, the story. It was so beautiful that I didn't mind the flaws at all.

"I fell in love the way you fall asleep. Slowly and then all at once."

I loved the characters of Augustus and Hazel Grace, I loved their trip to Amsterdam, I loved their love story and I cried more than once... okay, I cried pretty much all the time :-) But I loved that too.

                                                                           "Okay?" "Okay."

I can honestly say that this will be one of those books I will reread and cry like I did the first time.

Music: LANA DEL REY- BROOKLYN BABY

This isn't a very difficult choice because this song was almost on a constant repeat :-) I like the whole Ultraviolence album very much but Brooklyn Baby somehow sticks out to me the most. Lana just fits into my music world perfectly and was the best choice for those cloudy melancholic September days.

"They judge me like a picture book by the colors like they forgot to read."

Beauty: NUDE&LILAC NAILS

I've been combining two nail polishes in September and it was the Maybelline Colorama in the shade 254 and the Astor Fashion Studio in the shade Majestic Lilac. For me they are the perfect fall colors, the nude shade keeps it casual while the deep lilac makes it interesting. I usually painted all my nails nude and then I painted my two ring fingers with the Astor nail polish and it's a combination I know I will often go back to :-)

Internet: DOTA2 TOURNAMENTS

(small disclaimer for future references: this category will mostly feature my internet obsessions like vlogs, blogs, youtubers, personalities etc...)

As for my Internet favorites, this month I have been watching A LOT of Dota2 tournaments cheering for my favorite teams. I, myself, am not a very good Dota player (in fact, I kind of suck), but for some reason I really enjoy watching professionals compete against each other. There are many many many tournaments going on at the same time so I have no shortage of my daily Dota2 dose :-)
(GO Team Secret ;-) )

Anyway, that's probably it for my September favorites. I hope you enjoyed it and it gave you some inspiration (maybe). There may be more favorites coming up in the future with some added categories :-) Have a wonderful October and stay tuned for the International Horror Story :-)

Autumn spirit

By: Z.

Hello!
Some time has passed from my last post but there was really nothing exciting happening. I have been working, moving my stuff to dorm and enjoying the last days of summer holiday. Speaking of… Let’s pretend for a while that school isn’t starting this Monday and let’s focus on something positive. Even though autumn kind of represents the stress of upcoming school months I still like it as a season. J There is always this time in summer when I get excited about fall…
I really love love love those cozy evenings when I get back home, make myself a cup of tea, cover myself with blankets and read a book or watch movie/TV show. There’s just something special about that cool-weather atmosphere that it just doesn’t feel the same during summer or spring. Currently I’m reading The fault in our stars because I loved the movie and I already have a full list of other books I plan on reading.

Since I mentioned the cool weather…I am obsessed with sweater weather because I feel that it represents my fashion style the best. I think that the whole dressing in sweaters is simple and effortless but still looks nice and not sloppy. J

My random pick from fashiolista.com ... Here is my profile for those of you who are interested: CORALINEE

Also going to cafés becomes much easier for me now as I can always order tea or hot chocolate which isn’t often the best choice in summer. I really wish that this time I will be able to find more time to meet with M. and V. outside our homes more often. I love it when we can catch up (especially with M. since I live with V.) in our favorite café which doesn’t happen that often because we are lazy and choose to stay at home :D. Yeah, we suck sometimes.

One negative thing, though, is that this time last year I was excited about our approaching little trip to Prague in October and this year there is no such thing :-( So I really don’t have anything to look forward to :-(

Me and M. in Prague during autumn last year. The weather was amazing- sweater weather at its best :-)

Anyway, that’s about it from me. I hope you have more positive feelings about going back to school than me. I don’t know. I just have this strange feeling that it’ll be extra hard this year. I hope it’s not true, though.

With lots of love
Z.

Why not change? Why not Kanye?

By: M.

Hello!

How are you?
Today, when it is raining cats and dogs in Slovakia, I've decided to write something. I'm not really sure what will come out of this, but let's try. :)
TMI or fun fact, there are hens in our yard (we don't own hens). They are looking through window at me. Privacy, hens, have you heard of it? :D One has just slipped a bit. :D I'm a terrible person. :D
Uhm, let's recall what I have been enjoying this past two months so far.
I got hooked on different types of music. I mean I've always liked pop, rock or oldies in general, but this summer I branched out to other music genres or I wasn't afraid to embrace this musical change in my taste. Never in a million years though I would found myself one day listening to new Fall Out Boy album. I mean, I have nothing against this music, it's just never been my kind of music.
Ok, to sum it up, I started listening to indie and hipster stuff. Artists I've never heard of or who are not that mainstream and who are like... also present. (Arctic Monkeys, G-Eazy, Stromae, California Wives, Tired Pony, Billy Barman, Tegan and Sara, Mikky Ekko, The 1975, George Ezra...and one or two songs from many other not very known artists.)

Then, when it comes to pop/mainstream scene I'm proud fan of Beyoncé, Little Mix, Macklemore, Iggy Azalea, Rita Ora and... oh I even listen to one Kanye West's song. I mean... what happened to me? :D Never thought I would change my musical taste in this direction. Oh yeah, confessing, I like the new 1D song, Fireproof.
Also my fashion taste got darker & more minimalistic. I think, perhaps it goes hand in hand with my musical change. Or, I like either very simple, elegant accessories or very unique ones. And beside Taylor Swift and Kate Middleton as my fashion inspirations I'm starting to admire Alexa Chung effortless style. (Click here) Btw. grunge style is also starting to grow on me. Well, it's safe to say it's interesting what is happening to me or these changes are interesting to watch.

Oh and I finished reading The Fault in Our Stars like a week ago. Still hasn't watched the movie, didn't gather enough courage to cry that much again and be left feeling really... just sad, because the book is simply and just sad. *sigh* Nevertheless I recommend it but be aware it will leave you emotionally torned and selfishly grateful with what you have and also paranoid/scared for future. Cancer is b*tch. Also I think TFIOS is the best anti-smoking campaign ever for teens. :D Uhm, what else?
I have become more judgeless when it comes to movies, music or fashion. I used to beat up myself for a chance that I might like that silly pop song or rom-com. And for what? Society is cruel enough, so why should I be hard on myself too? Changes are inevitable, fun and how boring it would be to stay the same person with the same tastes and interests? So I'm all for exploring with no prejudices or fear. I like it, great. I don't like it, nevermind, maybe later, maybe never.

I will end this with two amazing quotes.
"I've always loved the idea of not being what people expect me to be."
Dita von Teese

"I never change, I simply become more myself."
Joyce Carol Oates

!!And forget about this: My taste in music ranges from “you need to listen to this” to “I know, please don’t judge me.” !!

*Until next time, embrace the change/s*

In case you didn't believe me.

My half month round up

By: V.

After quite a long time another post, yay
!
Half of the month has passed since last update, so I figured I’ll just write about what was going on.
Summer holiday is almost gone and the sad part of the year is starting soon.  Something this summer will be remembered for is definitely Dota 2. All the streams and matches me and Z. watched together. I swear that every summer there is this one game we get obsessed with. Now I can honestly say that I know a lot more dota 2 pro players and casters than I know kpop celebrities
- and that says something about it ‘cause of my big k-pop part of my life back in 2012.
Another thing that summer holiday just can’t go without is a series marathon. This summer: Orange is the new black- loved it, House of cards- loved it and rerun of Misfits- absolutely adore the first season. Other than that -Suits and the last season of True blood.
Now I can’t wait for all the new seasons of fall series to begin!
And last movie I watched was Maleficent and I kind of had higher expectations. To me, the whole movie seemed like a really long trailer. Like nothing ever happened. I was disappointed, but Angelina is still such a good actress.
Highlight movie of the summer? Definitely Guardians of the galaxy.

I’ll also miss all the evening walks, just us three hanging out. Since we attend college in different cities we won’t spend as much time together during the year.
Next thing that happened in August is my part time job that I got. I’d like to get as much work experience as I can so here’s a step to become a self-made woman. :D
Also the weather was behaving horribly. Past two weeks seemed like fall already. I have a feeling like I did not enjoy the summer enough.

And these early days of September were all about packing for college and moving to dorm. Semester starts on the 22nd, so at least I still have a few free days. Right now I am unfortunately ill and writing this post from bed with a tissue in my hand and a cup of hot tea next to me. Well, cheers. Here’s to getting well in what I hope to be a short time!

Like "Purge" but different

By: V. & Z.

Hi!

Let’s skip the small talk and cut right to the chase. We happen to be quite the opposite of outgoing (we are not party people), but one night in a year all crazy stuff is allowed. Just like the movie  Purge  minus the crime part. :D
So, it happens to be on 11th of August- Z’s nameday-when we get together and celebrate ‘till the early hours of the morning .
It was just three of us hanging out and getting tipsy on cosmopolitan. We started the cosmo tradition a year ago as a salute to Sex and the city series, because we are classy like that. :D
We discussed many topics, such as the meaning of our lives and (not) being wild&young. You know the drill.
We were planning on going to the club and dance the heck out of ourselves, but apparently on a Monday night the city is empty, so we guess it was not meant to be. So, we kept it calm and simple- lame if you must. But we had fun anyway.

Here is the night in a few photos.

The preparation of drinks- cutting the fruits, mixing vodka with juice and M. covering Z. to protect her outfit. :D

Z.&M. posing for a picture

And at last 3 throwback photos from last year. At that time we actually managed to go to the club and dance. What a memory- we still think and laugh about it now. :P
But later about that...

Well, untill next year we probably won't be partying the three of us together. (Is it sad? Is it? Really?)
 Bye

Bomb... I mean fire!

By: M.

Hi guys!

Friday was one unusual day. First I met up with Dm again, for coffee to celebrate her nameday. (Yes another nameday and coffee celebrating. Shout out to coffee.;) ) Then we went shopping. And when we were browsing some clothes in one particular shopping mall, suddenly we heard announcement regarding fire. It ended with, this is not a training.

The "look"

At first I was like: Did I hear correctly? And then I looked and Dm. She had the same look on her face as me. Then the announcement was repeated and shop assistants were already coming to us and pointing us to emergency exit. (I guess I can now tick off this experience from my invisible list of life things and situations. *yay*) So we left through those emergency doors and were kind of stunned and annoyed. Such a luck. Really. We thought to ourselves 'cause I was about to try on something, so... Ah. *being ungrateful and materialistic*

No lights in restrooms, yep we got back there                                 In front of the shopping mall with fire fighters

Seconds later we learned that someone called in and reported bomb in that shopping mall. So it wasn't fire as they had announced previously. (They lied to us, but I can only imagine the hysteria if we and all the people heard about the bomb...so no hard feelings announcement guy. *wink*)
And suddenly this "news" amused us. Why were we amused? Let me explain. In Slovakia, there were plenty of these kinds of incidents, but I don't recall if any were like legit. Like real deal, you know. So... We were like 99% sure that this is a prank or false alarm, probably created by some bored teenager or grumpy customer.

Uhm, I'm sporting pink and orange nail polish on my toes.

When I came home, Dm had already sent me a link to our online local news about it. It turned out that another two shopping malls in my city were evacuated because of this "bomb" too. Guess what. No bomb was found. End of story & someone's pastime activity.

Now, I really feel bad for being annoyed & amused back then, because... well you never know when these false alarms one day become real in Slovakia.

*Until next time, don't get bored!*

Hooked on a feeling

By: V. & Z.

Hello everyone!

After a long time we decided to go to the cinema all three of us together. That hasn’t happened since Cloud atlas came out and that makes it a few good months.
On Wednesday Guardians of the galaxy lured us out of our homes. For us (V. and Z.) it is a tradition to go and see every new Marvel movie in the cinema, since we are fans.  After reading all the hyped comments and reviews on Twitter etc. we had high expectations and were not let down. It was pretty amazing. So if you haven’t seen it yet, we highly recommend it. It had everything a good sci-fi movie should have. We loved the jokes and catchy lines, the cast was great and the soundtracks were awesome. Yep, the music felt especially close to us as we used to listen to those exact songs a long time ago :) What can we say? We were hooked on a feeling (You get it? See what we did there? :D Okay.).
But apart from the movie, we also had a good time together. We went to one café before the movie and to another one after. We spent time talking, laughing, complaining, reminiscing and over-thinking stuff as usual.

But it wouldn’t be us, if something embarrassing didn’t happen. As M. was walking towards an escalator she automatically went to the right side of the stairs as it usually is the side that goes up, but she was so wrong. So, so, so wrong. And it took us all one too many minute to realize what happened. M. tried to climb the wrong side of the escalator 3 times before she noticed that the right side was actually going  down and not up. Silly her. We had a good laugh about it throughout the day.

At the Cinema café enjoying our coffe latte.

Selfie in 3D glasses. (excuse the bad quality)

Heisenberg spotted on the street! (Are we the only ones that see the resemblance?)

It was a really lovely day. We made yet another good summer memory. :)

Converting to Divergent?

By: M.

Hello!

How are you enjoying summer?
I this week have visited my friend Dm. We had one of those movie days. We watched Divergent, although neither of us read it, and then comedy The Other Woman.

Personally I was nicely surprised by Divergent. Even though I had my usual snarky comments about it (Dm could tell you) I enjoyed that movie far more than I had expected to. First half was kind of MEH but then the plot speeded up and it caught my attention. It had some really cheesy/lame parts, but the atmosphere of the story felt good... I don't know. I just liked it in the end. :D And you know the rule: Book is always better than a movie, sooo now I really want to read it and not gonna lie, Four is by far the most interesting character in the story and probablyyy a reason why I'm intrigued. Also this movie left me with existential crisis like...I would probably be faction less. Haha. *nervously laughing*

Overall it was well-spent day. Dm prepared a lot of nibbles to nibble. :D Chocolate brownie! But then we kept it also healthy by nibbling to raspberries and peaches, you knoooow to balance the sugar & guilt! We talked a lot and were able to snap this amazing selfie! ;P

Also, last week I had kind of a mother-daughter day with my mum and it was super fun. It's been a long time since we went shopping together and spent almost entire day just the two of us. We went for a coffee, since my mum had nameday and she loves coffee way too much it was perfect celebrating choice. She ordered Ethiopian coffee, one of the best coffees in the world according to the menu and after that she told me this day made her happy, which made this moment for me one of my fave memories with my mum. ;)
And it still makes me smile.

*Until next time, make amazing memories!* :)

Personal challenge

By: Z.

Hey guys,
I am going through some difficult time right now. Nothing too serious, don't worry, it's just a little personal crisis. I just haven't been completely satisfied with myself lately. I have never been too confident (more like the opposite of confident) but it got a little better over this past year. Many things happened- I'm not going to be too detailed about that now. But in these past few days I realized that I am not satisfied where I am as a person and that it is perhaps time to change and improve. I spent a sleepless night just thinking about stuff and being kind of sad and disappointed and in the morning I realized that it is actually up to me to change everything. And that thinking about stuff doesn't help, it's just an excuse for laziness.
So long story short: I would love to challenge myself this summer.
As you might already know I study Korean language and culture and I dare say that I am kind of good at learning foreign languages but I am too lazy to study when I am out of school (like I am right now since it's holiday). And I often think about where I could possibly be if I'd only studied more and not just for exams. So my first challenge is to sit down to books and study for an hour or two everyday to learn the language because nobody is going to learn it for me.
My second challenge is something much easier and it's running and working out. I have already started cca three weeks ago and I plan to continue with that. So I challenge myself to work out in August as well.

Photo taken approximately one week ago. It is my WO plan that I stick to with my sister V. We run everyday for about 25 minutes and then we do additional exercise to tone up. It is so great to have a work out buddy (shout out to V. <3)

And the third challenge(probably the most difficult one) is to stop worrying about the things I cannot change and to focus on things I can. This way I hope to become happier but most importantly satisfied with who I am.
If you have any motivational or inspirational stuff to say I would love to hear it. Also, I challenge you (whoever's reading) to do your own personal challenge and become a better person. If you decide to do so share it with me. And don't forget::: do it for yourself not for somebody else or you're never gonna stick to it.
I'll keep you guys posted :-)

With Love

How NOT to run

By: M.

Hello people, especially unlucky like me! :)

So, yesterday was Saturday & I've decided to join V. and Z. for running to pick some healthy habit and try something new, some outdoor activity. I was in want of change in general. How it went? Let's just say this is the first proof how unlucky we can be. :)

BEFORE
- As you can see a I look and feel hopeful, excited, joyful, optimistic.

Uhm, me looking like 12-year-old girl. -_- I swear I'm older.

AFTER
- My "luck". I was able to find the smallest hole in the ground and tripped. (So much for enjoying sunset ahead of me. *sigh*)  It's been a while since I fell like a kid and got wound. I know, I know... it doesn't look bad, but let me tell you... it stings like hell! But the best part is my ankle. No idea how I was able stand up and then actually run a bit more & get home like normal walking human, but later in the evening and this morning stepping on my right foot is quite painful. It's not swollen (thank God), it's just hit. Tomorrow it should be fine I guess, I hope!
It almost looks like my body repels any sport! Like it was from the start: "Nope. Not gonna happen."
You know what Body? Suck it up! I want to do something good for you, pick up some healtly habit. Deal with it Body.

Moral of the story? First, don't enjoy sunsets, watch where you put your feet & second, don't give up even if you literally fall down! Because isn't it a nice feeling to prove someone wrong and prove yourself right? Right??? :)

*Until next time, be careful*

The Marriage Mistake recommendation

By: M.

Hello,

Do you like going to public libraries? Because I do... a lot.
And yesterday I went to my local library with one of my dearest friends, Dm. It's been our tradition since graduating high school. During our busy semesters at uni and studying in different cities these library meet ups helped us to keep in touch and remain great friends 'till this day. :)
Personally I love coming to library on my own too. Just like that, with no particular book in my mind to borrow. I like browsing through shelves and reading random pages without that look or guilty feeling you might get at bookstores for reading but not buying. You know what I mean? :D Also, I prefer calmness & let's be honest emptiness of the libraries to the crowds in bookstores.

Lately I don't read as much as I used to and it's really starting to bother me. I want to change it this summer, so I borrowed three books (How optimistic of me, right? But I have decided to trust myself and command myself to accomplish this resolution of mine.)
Books I borrowed are:
- Romantic lady by W.S. Maugham
- Timequake by K. Vonnegut
- 1984 by G. Orwell

Reason? I've heard & seen many good quotes by them. I'm sucker for good quotes even though I rarely remember them. Maybe that's why I'm in constant search of them. :) I've always admired writers for their ability to reveal you knowledge of the world, life & love just through one or three sentences.

Also, when we were at the library, some employee put this book in a shelf next to us & told us: "Here you go girls, read it." And it would not be weird and kind of funny if it wasn't for the book's title, The Marriage Mistake by Jennifer Probst. I guess she was trying to tell us something...? Aaand maybe I will give it a try library employee, thanks for recommendation.

Have you read any of these books, guys? Let me know.

Until next time, be happy. :)

Is it fifty yet?

By: Z.

Hello everybody!

I thought I would just do a random post about random things and then I remembered that I watched a 50 facts about me tag on youtube today (by Claire Marshall to be more specific) so why not give it a try? J It will probably give you a better perspective on me as a person and coauthor of this blog.
Here we go, this should be fun.

I am a university student (1) studying Korean language and culture (2) and I love it although I find the language part freaking difficult (3). I love cats (4) and animals in general (5) and I cuddle with them whenever I can (6). That probably leads me to another random fact and that is that I love hugs (7). I also love reading (8) and watching movies or TV series (9). I like it better than going out (10) although I do like hanging out with my friends as a normal average person (11). I love taking long walks (12) even all by myself (13). I enjoy being out in nature (14) just as much as I like walking around town/city (15). I like wearing earrings (16) and have tons of them (17). I also like buying new handbags even if I don’t need them (18); I am a girl after all. I get annoyed quite easily (19) and the best way how to cheer me up is to make me laugh (20) as laughing is one my most favorite things in the world (21). I’m kind of patient (22) but kind of not (23), kind of shy (24) but not around people I know well (25). I like exercising in general (26) but cardio is my favorite part (27). I am addicted to Jane Austen’s novels (28) and I read Pride&Prejudice three times (29) and watched the movie probably more than eight times (30)- the one with Keira and Matthew. I also love the book Gone with the wind (31) as well as I like reading fantasy genre (32) which was actually the first genre I read (33). It was Harry Potter (34). I don’t consider myself a nerd (35) although I like some nerdy stuff (36). I love love love going to the cinema (37) but hate when it’s crowded (38). I am a proud chocolate lover (39) and I cannot live without it (40). I’m a day-dreamer (41), mostly awkward (42), often unlucky (43) and generally very creative (44) but lazy as f. (45). I am definitely not a morning person (46) but I don’t like waking up during lunch time (47) even though it happens a lot (48). Sometimes I’m over-thinking stuff (49) and I don’t particularly like being the center of attention (50).

Oh my. That was harder than I expected. :D It’s just random things about me, not even very important. I just wrote down the first thing that came to my mind. I hope I didn't bore you to death.

See you later.
